decisions, decisions

I need your input. Yesterday my run was horrible! Fow whatever reason, miles 5-8 were a real struggle, so much so that I gave up on mile 9 and basically walked home. I was very discouraged and thought I am not going to run at all. Now, in the clearer light of day, I am thinking about it again. My question is this, do I run a poor half (meaning my own personal goal will not be met) or doing it by walking and running and really just forget about the time, or do the 10 K run at a fairly good time?
Next question, Dad was wondering if we should have our party on June 10 for supper. He was thinking that there might be too many "dead" people on June 17 to be able to have fun. Joel, we were especially wondering about you. Will you want to drive here after being away and running 52.4 miles in 2 days?
We have baptism here this morning. 3 poured and 2 dunked. It will be a good service. Ya'll have a great day!

Mother, mother, mother. By now you should know that one poor training run doesn't mean the end of the world. My suggestion is to go for the half and slow it down a bit. You may not meet your personal goal, but that's okay. You have lots of reason to not mee that goal. It's been a hectic spring, you've been sick, your foot took forever to heal, so slow it down a bit, do the half, and enjoy yourself. Go for it! That's what I think.
I ran about three hours today from 1:00 until 4:00. Needless to say, it was a little warm. I also ran hills for about 45 minutes yesterday so my legs were already pretty sore. It was a decent run, but took a lot of work, especially in the heat. Around 3:30, it clouded over a bit, and that was super nice.
In terms of birthday celebrations I'm fine with either date. The 10th would work, though I may have a canoe trip training session for our volunteers, but that depends on how things go tonight. Other than that I think we are free. I would also be fine with coming to your place on marathon day. We might as well make a whole day out of it.
Anyway, those are my thoughts, less than two weeks to go! Jonathan, Gareth, how are you doing in the running dept?

Peace OUt.

Sorry, my legs actually weren't sore when I began my run today, just a bit tired. That's what I meant.

first off, mom, go for it!!! who cares about pb's. if it's a marathon or a half, it's all about accomplishing it. ya!!

hopefully i can do mine. the last two weeks i've just run my long runs (20 and 15) and that's it, and i really don't know when i'll run this week. the new job is taking some time up, though i may bike to work tomorrow, so that might count, and this weekend we played at least 2.5 hours worth of football.

oh, and the braun's got the jump on the 10th, so that's where we'll be after our church picnic.

Thanks guys for your input and encouragement!! I ran this morning and 5 miles went pretty well. So I will continue on and I will do the half come hell or high water( can I say that?!!) Oops....OK so we will meet here at our house after the marathon. We will likely see each other at the marathon. We will have to decide where to meet up with each other in the stands. Get better Kristen!
Love you all!
